If you have a cat that dislikes dogs, does this mean that you can never have one ??

Our cat basically thinks she rules the world and will chase after anything.

Aboutn 2 years ago we had a puppy and she hated it. She didn't attack him, just spent omre time outdoors.

We had to rehome the puppy (to my dad) for various reasons, but the other week my dad brought him to see us.

The cat went for him and scratched him on his face. I put her outside and then when the dog went out for a wee the cat thought about going for him again, but the dog stood his grond and the cat ran off instead.

Would it be impossible to have a dog whilst we have a cat like that, or would she just lean to live with it eventually ??

I am considering the possibility of getting a dog in the next year or so but obviously won't do it if it means thney will kill each other.

She would learn to live with a dog. She may never like it but she'll tolerate it.

I've had cats that don't like dogs despite being brought up with them. The dogs just learn to avoid them.

I've got two cats at the moment that cuddle up to the dog.

Oh good that is a relief.

Dd2 is absolutly desperate for a dog but I have said that I won't even consider it until I can drive because i'd want to take it to dog training classes, amongst other reasons.

I will hopefully pass my test later this year so will be seriously thinking about it after that.

We got a 10 month old black lab 3 weeks ago and we have a cat.

We introduced them whilst she was in her carrier and she was hissing and spitting. Since then if the dog gets too close she has swiped him accross the nose a few times, but this is getting less and less....they can no be in the same room and pass each other without incident.

They don't cuddle up together yet though
