Guinea pigs nails.

How do you trim your guinea pigs' nails? Ours are all really tame and happy to be handled but if we try and hold their paws they squeak and wiggle.

Is it feasable for us to do it? Or should we just vet it?

We have three and they all have v.diff personalities but even the most chilled on is having none of it.

Vet it, they may well have a vet nurses clinic that is free once per week, out previous vets did.

have hammies and not GP but we have clipped their nails, but easier to take to vet, and less traumatising for me

though think ours charges £7/8 to do it

took our boy through the door at back ........ and he came back all happy and short claws

if you catch the wick with the clippers, they bleed & bleed & bleed & bleed & it never grows back properly fortunately my beloved g-pig didn't seem in pain & wasn't traumatised by it but we were a lot more cautious they next times. She was one chilled girl who was more like a dog than a g-pig, came in the house everyday etc

Ours live in the house they are so soft, they look at me hopefully through their bars when I go near in case I might bring food.
