alternitively cry lots! or go to choose /pick up kitty on your own and "accidentally" get 2 adn say that nobody wanted the last lil moggie and the owners were going to drown it so you couldnt just leave it to die (say all this with a tear running down your face)

Crying won't work. A fait accompli might, or possibly just take our son and ask him if he wants one or two. Am sure he'd choose two, so I could blame him
