Rabbit Hutch flooring. Who knows about this kind of thing?

I have just bought 2 baby mini lop rabbits from a local breeder.

I have also bought a large double level hutch for them.

I looked everywhere to try and find a hutch with the pull-out plastic tray bottoms for easy cleaning but could not find one big enough.

So my question is - can I cover the bottom of the hutch with sticky back plastic (you know the stuff on a roll with peel off backing - Fablon I think it used to be called)?

Obviously will put newspaper, hay etc on top, but I was thinking that this would make for much easier cleaning?

Would lino be better? Any other suggestions from bunny experts gratefully received.....

Lino would be better as it will stand scrubbing better but I am not sure what will happen when (inevitably) bunnies rip it up and eat it! I don't think they will digest lino to easily and could be painful if not fatel.

I wouldn't put either in tbh.

Layers of newspaper and hay did the job for mine with a good scrub down once a week or so. Remember not to use flash type stuff- very harmful to furry friends. Just sapy water and then clear water to rinse.

They can quite eaasily be trained to use a cat tray btw. They like to do their poo/pee in one place so just put the tray there and gradually move it to where it suits you .

Enjoy your lovely bunnies!

I use lino and a cat litter tray.
