Lonely Guinea Pig?

Sadly, one of my male guinea pigs died a couple of weeks ago. He was 4yrs old. I have one left, who is nearly 5. I don't know whether he will be happier on his own, or whether I should get a new friend for him. He seems o.k in himself, but I don't know if he would like guinea pig company. They had been together since they were a few months old, but were not brothers. These are the first ones I have had, so I have never been in this situation before.

Guinea Pigs do thrive on company, but when one of mine died, the other one lived quite happily on his own for another year until old age got the better of him.

I would get him a friend - If he was friendly enough with his boyhood pal he should accept a new pal in his older years!

This gp rescue has got loads of boys waiting for new homes if it is anywhere near you!
lovely piggies

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll probably let him live out his life alone, with lots of human cuddles, contact & treats. I'm worried that if I get another I will find myself in this situation again.
