I always thought that my cat was trying to pretend to be a seductive bird, beckoning her prey towards her.

Very unsuccessful. Birds said "no chance" as she sat on the windowsill for hours with her neck bent upwards at an alarming angle.

Ah, have seen the youtube link now, and what my cat did was kind of different. More like she was sort of singing at the same time.

pointydog · 19/11/2008 20:00

my cat chirrups hello, too.

She does it all.

dinny · 19/11/2008 20:00

how do they actually kill birds - round the neck?

Wallace · 19/11/2008 20:02

pintydog - could yuo help me find a clip on you tube of the chirruping hello, pretty please

bella29 · 19/11/2008 20:52

My cat chirrups!!!

And puts her head up for a kiss at the same time (all say 'aw'!)

pointydog · 19/11/2008 21:07

my cat makes a quieter version of this chirrup. But this is an 'I'm excitied because I see a beautiful living creature that I want to kill' chirrup. Along the lines of the chattering.

I'll try to find a 'hello' chirrup

pointydog · 19/11/2008 21:15

can't find one. And all teh cat noises are freaking out my cat. A cat's mental state is always on a knife edge, I find.

anyone else's cats killing loads of rodents atm? my two seem to drag in a mouse or rat most days

they're amazing hunters, is it true that tabby females make the best hunters?

bella29 · 20/11/2008 09:31

No, no dead things at the mo, here, but then my two best hunters got knocked over & killed this summer

Also got a lab puppy who is very adept at hoovering up any cat hunt remnants so maybe I just don't get to see them now

dinny · 20/11/2008 09:48

oh, poor things, Bella - I dread that happening, I have thought about keeping them in but they'd go MAD
