I can't find any wet spots but I can smell wee. She was kneading my jumper and when I picked it up to put it on it smelt. Yuk.

may be a weak bladder then or a kidney/urine infection. cats that age are prone to them as are dog. has she any other symptoms?

No, though she does have hypoestesias

It sounds like she may have a urine infection. Ideally she should see the vet really.

I have come across hypoesthesias in dogs before where the main problem was leaking poo cos the anus wouldn't shut properly. I don't know about it really except that it is a sort of like a faulty feedback signal that stops the cutaneous areas of the body being stimulated properly?
this I believe leads to low skin sensitivity but also can lead to poor control of certain areas like the anal area? it may be that she cannot close her 'ladies' bits and wee leaks a bit and causes the smell without leaving behind much wetness or what does come out is soaked up by her fur?
all speculation here but still as beautifulgirls says, I think a visit to the vet will be best to check for urine/bladder infection to be safe
