My cat hasn't come home

He is a bit of a wanderer but normally comes home at night and if he does miss our last shout for him before shutting up he's usually there outside the window first thing for his food.

Wasn't there this morning and dh just called to say he's still not come home

He's a neutered male, almost 4 years old, used to have a habit of going into the garden of a bakery nearby and then getting stuck and we'd have to go get him out (could hear him miaowing from our house!). Then about a year ago he was missing for 3 weeks and then we finally spotted him in a garden (in no hurry to come home I might add )

So hopefully he's just having a wander, but you just don't know, do you?

my cat is a bugger for doing this, he went missing for 2 weeks once so i worry if i havn't seen him all day.

id leave it for a bit yet before you get really worried, they dont like to miss filling their chops so im sure he'll come sauntering in for some grub at some point today.

I know, I guess it's better to just think they're out there somewhere rather than start getting upset now and then finding they've just been off living the life of riley in some neighbour's house, right?

Our cat has been a bit unsettled since the fireworks started a couple of weeks ago and she has changed her routine a bit - she hasn't always been coming in at night (I think she goes off somewhere to hide and stays there all night - possibly in someone else's house for all I know!). Hopefully yours is just having a wander oblivious to your worry! Hope you find him soon.

Is he microchipped? If not please consider getting him done when he comes back home. You should ask neighbours to check garages and sheds, and at home check if you have any rooms you rarely use that he may just have sneaked into past you perhaps - I know what my cat is like. Otherwise give local vets a call and make sure they know he is missing so that they can hopefully get him back to you should he end up in their care for any reason.

Best of luck - most of them come home just fine, but I know how worrying it is too while you are waiting.

I'm trying NOT to be worried this time given the heartache I went through last time just to find him all fine and dandy and having the time of his life.

BUT he is still not home so I think we're back to sticking up posters like last time. People aren't too cat friendly here and tend to look at us like we're putting up posters for a lost shoe or something

He isn't microchipped, not sure if it would be much use as here in Spain people don't tend to pick up/hand in stray animals, particularly cats which are so numerous around here. They just run them over instead . On the other hand we haven't actually seen him run over which is a great sign, right? He must be around, he can't have gone far, he never does.

Any news on your cat Maveta?

bella29 · 06/11/2008 22:13

Thinking of you Maveta.

Hope he wanders back in soon with that 'what's all the fuss about?' look that our cats give us when they've been AWOL

Maveta · 07/11/2008 06:20

good news Dh spotted him on a balcony of a house nearby, miaowing his head off. We had to wait til evening when the people came home but we brought him home, with the way he´s been complaining and carrying on, you´d have thought it was US that had chucked him out! cats

thanks for thinking of us!

Until the next time...
