Has anyone used a lysine supplement for cats?

Hello people

Have a tom cat who keeps getting colds & the vet has suggested trying a lysine supplement to help prevent this.

Has anyone any experience of this & does it work?

Yes, I am a vet and I have used lysine in several cats with recurrent flu symptoms. However, I have always prescribed it in conjunction with a second anti viral drug called interferon. I have had some excellent results but it does need to be continued long term.

Hi, we were advised to give our cat lysine when she had a herpes infection in her eye. We just got tablets from the health food store and crushed them up in her food (this is what our vet advised). The infection did clear up very quickly so seems like it helped.
