Recommendations for pet insurance for my cat

Could anyone recommend a good company to take out insurance for my cat with please? I've no idea what to look for in a policy tbh, however our vet said we'd be better off with a continuous policy (ours is an annual one at the mo with Tesco).

I think one of the things to focus on is just the cover for your essential things, like vets fees, rather than all the strange types of cover for very convoluted possibilities, like emergency repatriation if your cat accidently strays on board a 747 and ends up in Taiwan (okay, I did embroider the truth a bit there, but you get my gist!).

Your vet's right about continuous cover, because a lot of companies will only pay out for a condition for the rest of that policy year, even if it's something (e.g. heart problem) that the animal may have for life.

I went with Petplan in the end but they are the most expensive. M&S are smiliar but cheaper. Make sure you check what the excess is and if they reimburse all the vets fees, or only a percentage.

I went with Petplan, nurse at the vets told me they never have any problems dealing with Petplan. A few years ago my brother's cat was run over and had a few operations, x-ray's and had to be treated at a specialist vets 50 miles away, it only cost him the excess.

Petplan haven't been so good lately. Try PetPals - pay out promptly, comp cover etc.
