Cat keeps pissing in my bath

Any ideas why she is doing this?

I thought it might be cause I clean with bleach but I have stopped this.

very morning you can guarantee a pool of piss, always in the same spot.

Are you sure it's the cat?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/08/2008 19:36

My SIL's cats always pee and poo in the sink, right over the plug hole. Maybe the drain smell attracts them?!

SammyK · 20/08/2008 19:38

My cat has started doing this too recently - and on my door mats too.

harpomarx · 20/08/2008 19:40

oh, how disappointing..

I read the title and thought your cat was doing it while you were in the bath. Now that would have been weird!

CaptainFabioHiltsTheCoolerCat · 20/08/2008 19:42

What a great idea.

That sounds dreadful.

Shitehawk · 20/08/2008 19:43

Could be worse; she could be pissing in your bed

Might still be the bleach, even if you've stopped using it; they have very sensitive noses and she can probably still smell it. Plus it now smells of pee and she associates it with peeing, so she keeps using it.

You can buy some spray from the vets which will (hopefully!) put her off peeing there.

peggotty · 20/08/2008 19:44

Urinary tract infection?

DrNortherner · 20/08/2008 19:46

Been to vets, no infection.

It's not the plug hole end she does it, it's the other end. I know it's her cause I've seen her do it teh litle minx.

Will try that spray stuff.

Try putting a cat litter tray with some fresh earth in and put it in the bathroom. Cat should go for the tray.
If you can stand the smell then put a little Jeyes Fluid in the bath - to disinfect and kill the smell of catpee.

combustiblelemon · 20/08/2008 19:48

Leave an inch of water in the bath overnight.

Shitehawk · 20/08/2008 19:49

What are you cleaning with now, just out of interest? Lots of other cleaning sprays smell bleachy or chlorine-y and make cats mistake places for litter trays.

Does she have a tray she can use indoors? Might be worth getting one if you don't already have one.

combustiblelemon · 20/08/2008 19:51

Biological washing liquid will clean and not leave a scent she might confuse.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/08/2008 19:51

well I'd rather a cat peed in the bath than
just about anywhere else in the house, at least its easier to clean than carpets or soft furnishings.

Cant you exclude the cat from the bathroom to try to break the habit? Or can she open doors?

DrNortherner · 20/08/2008 19:52

Ah water in bath why didn't I think of that?! Excellent plan.

OP posts:
DrNortherner · 20/08/2008 19:53

Yes, I'd rather it be in bath than anywhere else but dh is ranting about 'next tim she'll be homeless'

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 20/08/2008 19:55

erm, could you not just shut the door??

harpomarx · 20/08/2008 20:08

thisisyesterday... you are a genius!

EachPeachPearMum · 20/08/2008 20:35

Lock on the outside of the door- DH's cat did this when he was young. Just don't let the cat in there in the first place.

EachPeachPearMum · 20/08/2008 20:36

High up, of course, so DC don't lock you in accidentally

bella29 · 21/08/2008 16:41

Please never use Jeyes fluid near cats - it is highly poisonous to them, even when rinsed off
Same goes for any disinfectant which goes cloudy in water e.g. TCP

bella29 · 21/08/2008 16:42

my bold didn't work:

Jeyes fluid is poisonous to cats

misi · 25/08/2008 13:04

why not use this as an opportunity to train your cat to pee and poo in the toilet?

booge · 25/08/2008 13:06

Ours too. Yuck.

goingslowlymad · 25/08/2008 13:49

you are all too nice.

My cat is clever enough to know that he would definately be homeless if he tried such a thing more than once.

How do any of you like an animal so much you are prepared to put up with it pissing all over your homes?
