Love my greyhound

We took on a greyhound after it was sent to a rescue centre from being raced.

he is the most affectionate animal I have ever known and love him to pieces.

cant be trusted with cats but then most dogs cant.

Anyone else got one?

Horseshoe, that's lovely, he sounds great! Greyhounds in particular can be funny with smaller animals (no wonder really!) but most dogs are fine with cats, we had several different dogs and different cats at home, all of whom got on great with each other (in fact, if there ever was a tiff, the cats always came out on top!). We're just about to rehome a cat .

I haven't got a greyhound although I think they are lovely, but I have got a trailhound which I got from a rescue centre. She was also a racing dog but hurt her leg so had to stop. I have also got a cat from the same rescue centre and they are the best of friends although the cat is definitely the boss.
The dog was really hard work at first as she had never lived in a house before, but we persevered and it paid off and we have had her over 5 years now and she is lovely.

got two where i work, they are great and so gentle but one of them has eaten two of my bosses cats (oops)

We had a greyhound when I was a child. Lovely, lovely dogs - so affectionate.

I used to know someone who had one and I have loved them ever since. I would really love one, but we have cats, and greyhounds which are ok with cats are few and far between

hey only just seen this -sorry, but yep i have fairly recently taken on a rescue greyhound too. shes a sweetheart, if abit dim. bless! she is still quite jumpy but major improvement from when she first arrived, i'm never seen sucha nervous scared dog....
hows yours doing?

Mines lovely....He is soooo laid back until he sees a CAT.

Unfortunatley he has killed 2.

The first one I let him out in the Garden and he just lunged at a CAT that I hadn't seen.

Then we started putting him on the lead in the Garden too. (we leave him on the lead for walks) but a cat was hiding in DD's playhouse and he just jumped in there. I couldn't get in to grab him out.

Now he is muzzled at all times which is upsetting but he doesn't seem to mind.

Other than that he's great with dogs and DD

The jumpy thing DQ will calm down. Mine still does it although he is etting used to household sounds

Oh horseshoe - you've brought back all the lovely memories I have of the two rescued greyhounds we had when I was a child. They were just the sweetest most gentle animals ever. I was devastated when they died - both at about 17. I would daerly love one now, but we're all out at work/school all day and it wouldn't be fair - sigh!

I've got a whippet/greyhound cross. I've had her since she was 12 weeks old and she's 10 in September. She is the gentlest, sweetest natured, most beautiful dog I know. She's a bit nervy with other dogs, doesn't like cats, but she is fantastic with children & babies. She's a bit nervy with loud noises and has a tendency to rip up tissues if you're not looking - but she's really a darling!
