Hey,

Our German Spitz can't travel in a car without being sick! I didnt even know animals got travel sick untill now.

Here's my problem.

Ds Grandparents live 30 miles away from me and obviously we need to drive to visit them.
They want to see ds 2x weekly or cause a fuss. They insist he stays there or we are being cruel and not letting them see him enough SOOOOO The dog comes with us, because he cant stay at home alone.
They don't have a bed for ds at their house so we need to take a travel cot with us each time, or we could get the train, don't know if it would be any different for him though?

Has anyone had experiance with this before? What did you do? Even if he hasn't eaten and is only going a drive to the park he is sick.
IS there anything i can buy for him? Do you think maybe taking him on the train would be better?

H

hollyandnoah they used to sell rescue remedy at Boots, failing that Holland and Barrett or any health shop. It works for people too - might even be useful for you to take some before visiting the GPs .

My dog was very travel sick until he was about 6mths old, he sometimes got so stressed he would poo too, very unpleasant. We did the above suggestions, putting him in the car to eat, then taking him out again, short journeys with lovely walks at the end and treats or toys in the car. He's fine now, 18mths, although he very occasionally gets sick on long journeys - 2hrs +. I spoke to my vets about it, they also suggested using a DAP spray, it contains the phermones their mum produces and is supposed to help calm them down, they use it around bonfire night for dogs scared of fireworks etc. you can get it from the vets. I never used it though as the other methods worked for me, but it might help if nothing else does. Hope he gets over it soon.
