Cats: "tick"-like thing in my cat's ear?

Wondering if any cat experts can help me. I noticed my cat (12) had a little white "thing" attached to the skin inside his ear - it was about 3-4mm long. While I was debating what to do about it, my husband took action and pulled it off! He says it was a little tick-like creature with legs.

Does this sound familiar and could we have caused any damage by pulling it off? His ear looks fine, I was just wondering if it could have left any bits inside his ear that could get infected. Thanks.

sounds like a tick - just dab some disinfectant on the area it should be fine. If you notice swelling and redness you have left its head.

A tip for the future, apparently when pulling out ticks, pull them towards the animals nose.

I had a tick on my back once -
