Are self-cleaning cat litter trays worth it?

Hi all,

As the title says really! They cost £200+ each and I would need to buy two of them since I have two cats (I’m downsizing so will no longer have a garden). I’m just wondering whether they are worthwhile, and if anyone can recommend any.

Thank you!

Personally I find normal trays with good litter liners super easy and a fraction of the cost. We have an xl tray and xl liners from Amazon (there are many) and it takes literally seconds to bag it up and bin it; like changing a bin. (Obviously I scoop every day and then change the whole thing every 2-3 days).

DS had one, very expensive to keep replacing the filters and it broke before long.

I used a covered litter tray with a XL liner as per the previous poster. I used clumping litter, scooped and sprinkled with deodoriser after every “visit”, changed litter completely and disinfected every 2/3 days.

It was very easy, very cheap and always smelt fresh.

I just use a cheap litter tray from Amazon (about £4 each) and their own brand corn litter 🤷‍♀️
