Elderly cat peeing

Looking for advice..
elderly car is 15+.
Already on medication for blood pressure. Has been peeing in lots of places around the house. The smell is awful. Properly cleaning up but the smell remains.
I have vets booked. I'm guessing they will suggest bloods/urine test.. not sure what else?

Cat is losing her sight.

15 doesn't feel that old. But maybe our others have lived much longer, and that's rare?

I guess I'm looking for reassurance that putting her through tests & most likely more meds (the one she on is a daily struggle) is the right thing to do? Anyone experience the peeing around the house and been able to resolve it?

sorry for the rambling. Previous cat has many many ailments & had to be pts a few years back but was much older. Maybe the experience is clouding my mind.

Sounds like kidneys need checking with weeing, eyesight and sight issues. This is a blood test and urine analysis and is then managed with diet. I think I’d go that far on the basis that if a dietary solution can be achieved that would be a great result. Beyond that I’d be really cautious I think about how much intervention.

With the blood pressure meds, if you don’t already have it, it can be given as a cream which you dot inside their ear if you’d like to remove some stress.

Her peeing outside the litter box is as you surely know a way of her saying she is unwell. Maybe try adding litter boxes to help her out since she is losing her eyesight. Regarding the smell, have you tried enzyme cleaner? I also use Flash for pets in the litter trays and around the house, it does remove the smell of urine. In my case at least.
Hope it all goes well at the vet.

Vet suggested a week of painkillers for potential cystitis & then if continued.. bloods & urine etc.

so far pain meds seem to have helped. Fingers crossed that's the end of it.

Try adding some more litter trays. My elderly cat started peeing on the carpet upstairs (she did have thyroid issues). I put a litter tray upstairs and it resolved the problem.
