How do you wash your dog’s toys

DPup has a few hard plastic toys but most of them are fabric and many have a squeaker in them. How on earth do
I wash them? Is there a special detergent or something I should use or can I just use normal
waahing powder? Google brings up special pet detergents but they seem to be for sanitising pet bedding rather than something he is going to be chewing on. Given the variety of things he tries to eat on walks, I may be overthinking this but some of his toys he spends a good while chewing on. I’m also concerned about them tasting/feeling too different as he’s now pretty consistent at choosing toys over my limbs and I’d rather than didn’t change!

Do it as PP has suggested...although not sure I have ever washed dogs toys!

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks my old girl has literally never destroyed a toy. Still has the one she came home with from the breeder which she carries lovingly around still❤️. Somehow she’s alerted all the other to the fact that it’s a ‘paws off my toy’ situation without any more than a meaningful look over almost 14 years so it’s still going strong 😂

This is why I prefer MN to AI for various things. All I needed was the reassurance that someone had chucked them in the machine and their dog hadn’t required an emergency trip to the vet. I had that reassurance, did it myself and now both the dog & I are happy, me because I no longer have some really manky, smelly items being abandoned on the sofa and the dog because he hasn’t noticed a difference.
In terms of longevity of toys, he’s only a cockapoo so not that destructive. I think two rope toys and one plastic toy got to the stage of chunks coming off them and got chucked but the rest have survived. A bit of skirting board and a kitchen chair - both of which are in corners where we thought he was lying down quietly and settling - haven’t fared quite so well!

@FoxandDuck glad to hear all went fine and DDog didn't notice! I feel your pain on skirting boards. One of mine took a chunk out of ours when DH was watching him.

Anything soft goes in the washing machine with his bed, anything hard, rubber etc gets the lego treatment, so washing up bowl of milton and then a soak in just water for a rinse.

My dog chews on dead animals he finds on walks before I can get to him and eats deer legs he's buried in the garden . Am I supposed to wash his tennis balls?

Soft toys go in the washing machine and tumble dryer. Ours don’t really have any plastic things that I can recall. I’ve certainly never washed any and nor would I bother.

Toys that last I.bung in a pillow case and just use a washing pod and white vinegar l and let them air dry. My dog has a few rope toys that he leaves outside or pees on 🤢 the vinegar takes away the urine smell. I then do a washing machine clean

He has a couple of rubbery toys i just wash them in a basin if they are muddy.

We have a 'dog' washing machine in the garage so all dog toys go in there.
