One of GP's died last night

He was just over a year old and very healthy. DD went to put him in the hutch, he fell over started gasping then died within minutes. It's the one with dark patches on my profile.

We still have his brother who seems fine. I know they don't like being by themselves, although the dc's give them lots of attention.

When is the best time to get a new one, and what is the best way of introducing them.

Oh sorry to hear about your GP.

We had a similar situation in that one of our 2 male GPs died at about 18 months old. I wanted to try and get one of a similar age to our remaining GP so kept checking ads in the paper and in our local vets and phoned round various animal shelters. I eventually found a slightly younger male GP to rehome and we introduced them fairly gradually. The lady he came from gave me his original hutch so I started with them in side by side hutches and we let them run around the kitchen together every day. We then let them get into each others hutch if they wanted to and our original gp got in with the newbie and that was that. They're still happily together now, four years later. TBH we were very cautious about introducing them as people kept telling us that 2 males will fight but I think they would have probably been fine together much sooner as there was never any attempt at fighting. The worst that happened was Shaggy, our original gp kept obsessively following Sid, the newbie around making what we could only describe as 'the love noise'.

Just incase you don't realise but your profile is set to private so no-one can view it.

Sorry to hear about your GP.

I've changed it now!

Our 2 never fought, they did get amorous with each other though.

We spoke to a breeder and also a couple of pet shops and were told to get a baby between 6 and 8 weeks. None of the shops had them that young but the breeder had a 6 week old peruvian. Went to get him this morning and he is a gorgeous bundle of fluff. DS called him Muffin Theodore Treacle.
Bruno has taken to him and little muffin is following him around the run.
