Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a fun conversation about our beloved pets. Whether you have a dog, cat, rabbit, or any other animal what's your absolute favourite thing about having a pet in your life? For me, it's the unconditional love and company they give us every single day. Would love to hear your thoughts!

My dog makes me laugh every day. I adore him.

Two cats. Every night before I go to sleep I say "Goodnight Tolkien. Goodnight little Tennyson. Mum loves you more than people".

I love my 2 dogs more than I love most people. They're just so reliable... don't have agendas, and just give give give.

Threesloths · 30/04/2026 14:10

The cuddles. The laughs. (Black cat)

Just love having a wee dude cutting about the house all day, doing their own thing but coming back for a clap every so often.

I lost both my 15 year old cats to cancer at the same time as losing my husband to cancer. Life’s a bit sh*t sometimes! I got a kitten a few weeks later and she is the love of my life. Makes me laugh every day with her antics, snuggles in and watches tv with me, sleeps with her head on the pillow at night. What’s not to like? Loved and wanted animals are extraordinary company.

NippyNinjaCrab · 30/04/2026 14:53

The love they bring,
The biscuit feet when sleeping,
Their comical individual characters that make me laugh everyday,

I love it when they all sleep and I get peace for a bit.

We have two ex-racing greyhounds. The love they give, and the joy they have. I also like we are giving them a good life- better than the racing industry, and what happens to many once they don't win races 😥. My daughter adores them and I think it's good for kids to understand about caring, as well as life and death.

I live in SE Asia and have 2 rescued street cats. They both have a bit of Bengal in them and chatter away at me, I love our conversations but wish I knew what they were on about.

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/04/2026 16:53

That looks like an AI pic, OP - aren’t you going to show everyone your own pet?

Sunisgettinganewhaton · 30/04/2026 16:58

My pets are rescues, so satisfaction of giving them a loving home. The dog is like one of the kids, gets you up and out … plus everyone loves a dog!

retaildispute · 30/04/2026 21:52

I don’t have my own dog at the moment but I do dog sitting - my favourite thing is getting up to them in the morning. Full body wags and they’re so happy to see me 😁

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 30/04/2026 21:56

The constant company.
working from home, with minimal contact with colleagues during the day can be really lonely.
also, a reason to get up and move even in the most hideous of weather.
i may complain about doing it at the time, but it’s also nice to have something to push you in to getting some fresh air.

i absolutely adore my boy, think he’s the best think since sliced bread. He just wants to be involved with everything, and I love seeing how happy he is just to be taken to a beer garden, or a walk to the corner shop. He’s just prances along, so proud to be part of the crowd.

pinneddownbytabbies · 30/04/2026 21:59

That a creature of another species trusts you and enjoys your company so much that they will come to bed with you, drape themselves around your head on the pillow and purr gently while you fall asleep.

OneToThree · 30/04/2026 22:21

That she just wanders about the house and garden doing whatever the fuck she wants. I love her attitude. It makes me laugh everyday and me and my husband are always telling each other to come and look at the cat 🐈‍⬛

This poster’s started another thread with the identical opening post but a random picture of a woman instead.

Reported.

The way my dog gets on the sofa next to me, leans in and gives me a huge hug. Bliss.

mondaytosunday · 01/05/2026 11:07

Companionship is number one. Over the last couple years I lost both my dogs mainly due to age related issues (they were 14 and 15), and that leaves my two Maine coons. They are usually wherever I am in the house. I’ll be sitting doing whatever and realise the female is sitting quietly next to me. The male is much more vocal and demanding of affection but that’s fine - I love it when he come in with his ‘hey I’m here what’s going on’ meows and chirps. When I come home they are usually waiting expectantly. They make a house a home.

BlakeCarrington · 01/05/2026 11:19

No matter how rubbish I feel or overwhelmed by life, he thinks I am the BEST THING EVER and wants to be near me all the time due to my awesomeness.

Plus he’s hilarious ❤️
