We got a new kitten today, a 8 week old ginger male. It's very loving but very clingy. Just for a couple of days we are shutting it in the kitchen, as it hasn't discovered it's litter tray or food. It's also a good place to seperate him from my daughter.

The kitten keeps crying ALL the time when we are not with him or holding him.

Will he get better when he adapts to his new home????

Help!

Hi, we have 3 cats, a 16yr old, a 7yr old and a 3 yr old, and recently we have added to our family, a little 8 week old kitten, we locked her in the kitchen for the first night and she cried, not for long mind you, and in fact we lock her in the kitchen every night, she has plenty of toys, blanket, food, litter tray, soft warm covered bed, and she is fine going in there every night, we have a cat flap, and even though she has just had her last jabs, i am really not happy with her going out to play in the garden at night time!! We haven't had lessons of how to get through the cat flap as yet, but it wont be long!! Also while she is locked up, our other cats get a break from her (she is constantly jumping on them) and we get a break from her (we get constantly jumped on too!!) I had to explain to my eldest daughters teacher that she wasn't self harming but we have a kitten good luck with the kitten, and yes i agree with the other thread that says maybe you should get a play friend for your kitten!!

put a cuddly toy in its basket
or a fluffy blanket. If there is something there that he feels comfortable with, he will settle down. He likes feeling close to something. So the company of a cuddly toy will make him feel better
Good Luck

my 10 month old "kitten" still walks round the house "crying" for attention.

I don't think she'll grow out of it - we have just accepted that she is a very chatty, vocal cat!

I got a new cat, she's one year old and she's a was a rescue kitten! Ever since she has been here all she does is hide in corners, and cries all night? Is this normal? Could it be because I have another cat, someone help me please?

when kittens get separated from their mothers they miss their mothers so you should feed them properly play with them but for few minutes they get tired quickly and they need rest you should give them enough time to rest. Always keep them around so they won't feel lonely. When you use hoover to clean the house keep them far away the noise will affect their hearing.
Any noise which sounds big to human ears is much bigger for animals and kittens are always scared of noises for example hoover, grinder, mixer etc, so please please when you use these things keep your cats away from noise.

This thread is 8 years old!

Yes it's normal for cats to hide and/or cry a lot as they adjust to new surroundings. If you have another cat it's important to integrate them properly. Keep new kitty in a separate room and let the other cat in to smell and vice Versa then gradually introduce them for a few hours at a time.

Unless you get lucky like I did with my most recent addition and my other cats. For some reason the cats immediately loved new kitten and accepted her with no problems (she was so tiny she fit under the door of the room I put her in during the night and when I woke up in the morning she was sleeping among the regular pile of cats on my bed).

rebeccarobsonxo dear you should play with the cat and make her feel you love her and she is wanted she hides because she is scared and feels hostile and un easy in presence of other cat, cats feel same way as we do she is new and hasn't accepted the atmosphere yet. I wish could get that cat.I have 5 cats and 2 weeks ago I bought 8 weeks old kitten I started playing with her and feeding her kitten food and milk she started following me where ever I go in the house she sleeps on my bed.Cats are wild by nature and their body is made in that way they don't like when its too much hot or much cold. They love staying in 18.23%c in short they can live in cold but not in heat.
