Ivdd dachshund, ideas for sofa arm stop climbing

Last weekend my dog was diagnosed with Ivdd, so I'm trying to make my house more dog proof without it looking crazy. Any ideas what I can put here and on my sofa to stop my dog from climbing up onto the arms? I can change the blankets and do so to other colours weekly. At the minute I've blocked with old placemats . Trying to avoid buying new sofas!

There's lots of Dachshund pages on FB that will give great advice. I hope DDog is insured. I know there's no way other than crating that I could stop my standard wire haired critter from jumping, that definitely wouldn't stop him.

You need to stop your daxie jumping into the sofa as well, not just that arm rest bit. So basically training them to not get up at all, and restricting access to that room when you aren't around to supervise and reinforce.

Hey thanks, both yes I have that bit covered I have a large ramp for he is accompanied in the living room and tend to lift him anyway, it's just so he can get up and down for water when he wants. My problem now is when is is just chilling he decides he wants to be a rascal and go on the arm so I need to stop that
