Should I name my dog this?

So I’ve just got a new puppy. I already have a name picked out that I love, however I am a TA and it just so happens one of the children I teach has the same name as the one I love and planned on calling my puppy. Is it weird to still name my dog that? I just love the name

I think it’s fine.

Of course it's fine. Pupils move on.
Congratulations on your pup!

Unless you’re planning to take the puppy to work I can’t see a problem.

I'm in the same job and I named my cat after the head teacher.

So yeah I'd say go for it 😂👀

I'm sure little Rover-Fido won't mind Wink

My mother named her dog after my sisters SIL. I thought that was too much.

As long as the name is "Colin" you are all good. 👍

LowdermilkPark · 27/01/2026 17:37

The child won’t even know? Go for it.

Manuel called his Siberian hanster (rat) Basil, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

squashyhat · 27/01/2026 17:44

Augustus Snodgrass will be flattered.

Bob

barry

all perfectly acceptable for a dog - if anyone complains, just say he came with his name
