Best pet cat insurance?

4 year old cat who I’ve just rehomed.

ive been looking at Tesco pet insurance.

is there any known issues with them for pet insurance or are they ok?

if Tesco is a no go, who would you recommend?

I used Asda last year when my cat was poorly and was really impressed. They paid out very quickly and the whole process was easy and stress free.

Petplan have been good for us

I second Petplan.

I use Petplan and they have always been great, they pay out quickly and it's easy to claim.

The cheaper ones may look good value, but you need to check the terms and level of cover carefully.

Also my vet will claim direct from PetPlan but they refuse to do that with some other insurers.

Third for Petplan. Our 15 year old boy has thyroid issues and they cover all his medication and regular vet visits for blood tests. Premium has gone up to £50 a month now, but that’s how much his medication costs so we’re breaking even before we start on the bloodwork and other tests.

Always Petplan, they have been fantastic with paying out for us - three times because the little sod kept getting into fights and getting bitten. Never had an issue.

Petplan are by far the best, although more expensive. One of the many benefits is that many vets (check with yours) can claim payment directly through them so you don’t even have to pay upfront for anything other than the initial appointment- this isn’t the same with many of the other providers. We have our cat insured for £12k lifelong ongoing with Petplan for £54 a month, he’s 7 years old.
