Can we delay adoption for 2 weeks?

We’ve been accepted to adopt a kitten which we’re really excited about. However, it’s come about a lot quicker than I was expecting and she will be ready to collect from Tuesday. The trouble is, we’re still working until our children break up from school on Monday 15th and so we can’t be at home full-time until that weekend. I don’t want the rescue centre to think we’re not committed, but would they be ok with me asking if they could keep her until we can be at home full-time in 2 weeks?

Your reasons have the animal's best interest in mind.. so ring, explain, I can’t see it being a problem

No. You apply when you're ready to adopt. They need that space for the next cat in need. You should've been serious about your application.

We’re very serious about wanting to adopt but it’s not a process we’ve ever gone through before. The advert first appeared at 10pm last night and I immediately filled out the form making clear our working hours. I assumed there would be interviews/home checks/meetings before we were approved, which would have taken a number of days. I didn’t expect to get approval in less than 24 hours of applying, which is what has taken me by surprise.
