My beautiful Cavalier King Charles spaniel Has been Shaved, I asked for a wash nail trim and just a little tidy up. I pacifically said I love her hair long they’ve shaved her. They didn’t tell me that they were going to do that. I picked her up and I paid because there’s not much they can do now it’s that short and I hate conflict but I’m just worried now that her coat won’t grow back.Bless her I’m going to have to buy her a jumper.

Was she matted? That's the usual reason for a full shave. Yes it will grow back

It will grow back. Was she matted? Hard to see why else they’ve have shaved her.

Of course it will grow back. Otherwise dog grooming would be a pretty non viable business!

Hiptothisjive · 12/11/2025 21:30

If you have to take her to be groomed due to long hair do you really have to ask if the hair will grow back!?!?!

The hair was matted and they had to do it. Your post is a bit silly.

Of course it will grow back.

Are you brushing her fur and looking after it in between grooms? I don’t know any groomers that will do a full shave like that unless it was requested or the dog was matted.

Some people get their dogs shaved twice a year! Cocker spaniel here who was fully shaved after a particularly difficult winter and it had fully fully grown back within 3/4 months

Ps groomers don’t only shave because of matts, every groomer we’ve been with asked on the phone were we looking for a full clip, trim etc. One said to me it’s cleaner to get him fully clipped and she hadn’t seen him. When I spoke to her she said she prefers fully clipped, another groomer said she preferred trimmed so it could be preference

Of course it will grow back. It’s better to keep them nice and tidy than having knots form under their armpits or in their pads. Next time you go, ask for a longer length trim and they can adjust the clipper size accordingly. Your dog will be so much easier to clean now after a muddy walk.

Only mattered behind her ears the rest of her was very silky, It’s okay though it’s starting to grow back. It was just a bit of a shock thanks all
