Night walks with border collie

Hi, looking for recommendations please.

I have a boisterous border collie who loves to run off lead but night walks are getting hard now it’s dark from 4:30! ( we’re quite rural so lit parks are not an option) I’ve had every type of light up collar but the light just disappears into his neck fur?
Tonight we tried a harness with a keyring torch attached which was better but still not great, he just disappears into the darkness!
Has anyone got a brilliant solution please?

TIA.

Will he wear a coat? Attach small lightweight bike lights to it.

Failing that my dog wouldn't wear a coat so I bought a couple of reflective arm bands and put the around his waist, they are wider than collers and his fur was shorter there than round his neck so with the help of a small powerful torch I could pick him out in the darkness.

Edited to add

He also wore a small bell like the type you get for birds in cages on his coller so I could hear him moving around

oh bike lights could work!
Not sure he would wear a coat, tolerates the harness as it’s quite open/strappy & a bell is a great idea!
He already had an id tag so adding a bell would make a great jingle 😁

off to Amazon I go! Thank you!
