Oh they so do! But be warned, sometimes the flies mess up their little tummies, especially if they're kittens... hope they've got access to a garden or that you've got lots of spare kitty litter just in case!

DaisySteiner · 06/06/2008 11:36

You think that's bad - ours is currently munching on the head of a dead baby rabbit

Idobelieveinfairies · 06/06/2008 11:37

ohh no! well i have 2 kittens, girl/boy, it's the girl one that seems to doing the hunting...i would have preferred it if she had put it in the bin...lol the boy one just watches her. He is the one with the more sensitive tummy so hopefully he won't start it.

Will keep an eye on her, thanks.

Wait til you see it with a daddy long legs, body in it's mouth, legs hanging either side of its jaws like extra whiskers .
Also be prepared that depending on how stupid your cat is, it may take to chasing bees and wasps. Our cats tend to have lumpy faces every year til they get used to the fact the stings hurt .
I have also discovered thanks to my cats that frogs squeak like mice when being tormented.

i think that is good since yoi will not have a fly problem in the house! mine take care of crane flies and moths too. i would rather that than the complete birds they leave in the living room!

Idobelieveinfairies · 06/06/2008 11:39

oh no, it's gonna get worse isn't it.....

Interesting that frogs squeak like mice. Rabbits make this truly appalling high pitched scream/ whine when they're being cat-tortured...

pucca · 06/06/2008 11:43

Not forgetting the live mice they bring in, then leave to run around your house for you to catch!

pucca · 06/06/2008 11:44

Oh and our 2 cats kept bringing back mouse traps from somewhere with the dead mice in and leaving them in the garden! lovely.

belgo · 06/06/2008 11:44

they eat wasps and bees too. At least my cat did. Never seemed to harm her.

mankyscotslass · 06/06/2008 11:52

I heard one of mine come in once, making a muffled proud if itself mewing as it disapeared up the stairs. Being curious I followed, and saw it go under my bed with something in it's mouth. Cursing the cat I threw a shoe at it so it dropped what it had and legged it back downstairs. When I moved the bed I saw a blackbird lying on the floor. I got a shovel to pick it up, and just as I bent over it, it flew up in my face.
Life is never dull with cats!

Idobelieveinfairies · 06/06/2008 11:53

Oh yes. Have you ever heard a fly buzzing around inside the cat's stomach? I have! We used to have a cat that ate wasps too - not sure how normal that is!

Personally, I hate flies and wasps so it make me love my cats more when they clear them up.

Idobelieveinfairies · 06/06/2008 14:28

yeah i hate them too, i'd rather they would catch and i could hoover though.....but the one good thing that came out of it is that i couldn't eat for a good couple of hours afterwards ..lol

OMG - I wish this thread was last week - I would seriously have thought more than twice about having our Kitten!

We got her last Wednesday, 9 weeks old - and very lovely - not outside at all yet - but am dreading when she can now!

I don't do dead things - or half eaten things or flies or wasps AHHHHHH what have I done!

First cat you see, have always had dogs!
