why does my dog hate tech?

Every time I go on my phone, my dog gets up, leaves the room and goes upstairs to be by herself. The other day, she did the same thing when I opened up my laptop.
My cat is the complete opposite. If I go on my phone, he will jump on my shoulder to listen to the voice on the other end and purr furiously.
Is anyone aware of a scientific reason for these behaviours?

The dog leaving when you start using your phone or laptop is an easy one. My dog often behaves similarly. If he is hanging around me, it is usually because he is hopeful of some sort of rewarding interaction. But he knows from experience that once I start staring at a screen I am likely to become very stationery, very zoned out from my actual surroundings, very inert and unrewarding. So he just slinks off.

He is very sensitive to the sound of my laptop closing. That's his signal that I am 'back in the room' and might start to be worth bothering with again.

Thanks for your reply.
what’s the interpretation of my cat being so keen to join in with the voice on the phone?

I wish I had a cat, but I don't, so I can't make any informed guesses there.

My sibling has a cat that is sooo talkative. It seems that as soon as he starts leaving a voice message on WhatsApp, the cat joins in and leaves a message of her ownGrin

Cats like to bother you when you’re busy in my
experience, and when you want to spend time with them, they look at you in disgust and piss off 😂
