What was your first memory of your pet?

I just remember getting him on a Sunday in 2020 and him being tiny.

Boy cat: meeting him at the cat rescue 8 years ago and him trying to climb straight onto my shoulders (fine as a tiny kitten, not so fine as big ol' chonker who still does it now).

Girl cat: gangly long legs and big airplane ears emerging from the carrier the rescue brought her to us in, hopping straight up on the sofa and snuggling down to sleep.

Going to meet her tocsee if she was a good fit for me... she was very cute, playful and bit my shoelaces. It was love at 1st sight. Whippet now 3 years old.

15 year old cat. We went to the RSPCA 13 years ago and she was hiding under a blanket. It's still 13 years and she won't sit on a lap or have a cuddle. She does - when she thinks we are asleep- comes to sleep on the bed. Sometimes she even comes under the covers but we have to pretend she is not there.

23 year old cat. We saw her on the RSPCA website when she was aged 19. She was described as a feisty elderly girl with thyroid and back problems. When we went to get her the RSPCA lady put on gloves to pick her up! She spent about 12 months being bitey and attacky and hissy. We had to tell her she was allowed to come upstairs and was allowed to sit on the sofa. Now she just works her way around the laps of whoever is sitting down and dribbles on us.

13 YO KC cav. I went to get her when she was 5. It was all a bit...dodgy, tbh. She was used for puppy farming. I picked her up from a junction on the M62 (said it was dodgy!) and got a back story which was somewhat plausible. The whole journey home, she was sat on the car seat staring at me. It was love at first sight, for me. ❤She's now coming to the end of her life, and it's more than I can handle atm, tbh.
