We got a hamster three weeks ago fr my elder dd ,since then my younger dd (2.5)has had a cough (but we have all had colds) .
Over the weekend howeer she started grunting and was very wheezy we to he to hospital and she was given an inhaler .

She seems to improve when we are out but back home she is coughing and wheezy .

We think it must be the hamster an my MIL is taking it for the week to see if dd improves.

My dd is devastated and I am too , does anyone have any exp of hamster allergys?

TIA

I would prob leave the hamster at your MIL for a couple of weeks and let your dd's sniffly episode clear up, then reintroduce the hamster, and hour at a time, and see if the symptoms flare up again. Would be a shame for her to think she is always going to be allergic to hamsters, if, in fact it is a viral infection? I hope this is the case for her.

how is she today?x

If your DD has a cold then she needs to stay away from the hamster anyway, so sending him/her to MIL is the right thing to do. In the meantime let your DD get over her cold and maybe visit the hamster and see how she goes then. It could just be coincidence.
