Am looking to buy a kitten and don't know much about cats! I live in Surrey (if this helps!) and have two dds 3 and 5. Is there a particular breed that is more friendly? Or do you take pot luck? How much are kittens - dont want a fancy, designer cat - a regualr tabby will do! I would imagine a pet shop is a no no...
Thanks xx

My friend in High Wycombe has kittens. I'm going to pick up our gorgeous little tabby girl in a few weeks time. Meeting her at the weekend, I cant wait! High Wycombe might be a bit far for you though
Let me know if you're interested, I think she still has a couple left

Oh, I think she charges about £40. I might be wrong though. I'm getting ours for free as a birthday present so I haven't asked her this time round. I'm sure she charged this last time she had kittens.

Thanks - High Wycombe bit far also was looking to have the kitten around the summer hols as we will be home then. Are tabbies the way to go?

Where abouts in Surrey? I may be able to help...

Re - tabbies : I've had cats of all colours, shapes and sizes and you definitely can't judge a cat by its cover!

Cats Protection has hundreds of cats and kittens needing homes and my very best cats have come from there. They can advise on a cat's character (which no-one can really tell in a kitten) and the cat will repay you every single day for giving it a good home.

Looked at the local cats protection league and all the rehoming cats were more suted to a quiet lifestyle - which they wouldn't receive in our house! Might consider this though - realising I am v ignorant on subject!

I did a stint fostering for Cats protection - it was fabulous I got all sorts of cats to foster from old calm ones to young tearaways and some kittens that needed hand rearing. My job was not only to give them a temp home but also to assess their personalities and to help them become decent household pets.
