Pets, especially those who may be ill, are an important responsibility.

nab, whats wrong with your hammies?? if its wet tail best get them to the vets if you can. It can wait til the morning of course

lucyellensmum · 26/05/2008 22:28

have you cleaned them out??? lol if they smell from the other room they could be dead for all you know? that happened to me once, just fed and watered my hamster, you know how it can be, bloody thing must have been dead for a week

Beauregard · 26/05/2008 22:31

Do they have wet tail?

When i had a hamster and it had wet tail i had to 'nurse' it and it still died.
It is very serious

NotABanana · 27/05/2008 09:00

I know that, emiliadaniel!

I had recently cleaned them out and they are all alive.

Their tails are tiny. Will go and wake them now and see if I can see them.

What does wet tail actually mean?

All 3 are different ages and there are 2 different types but have never smelt like this before.

Back shortly.

It seems to be the youngest that smells and the hardest to get her to come out of her bed.

Right, I have googled and now know what it is. Strangely it is the hamster it says usually doesn't suffer that seems smellier. I just wish I could get it to come out. I don't like to hassle too much as it may stress her. I will sort this out today.

I have seen all 3 hamsters tails. They are tiny! They all look dry. What should I do now? I will clean them out when DS2 sleeps and see how they are then.

oh bless its just that they get a complete wet bottom with wet tail. So the fact that you have looked in the general direction of their backsides means they dont have it. And to be fair if they did, since friday, you would be able to pick them up quite easily and they would be quite stiff!! Not entirely sure what causes it though.

Are they girls?? If it is i would worry about womb infections, but again, not much you could do about it.

Whatever did you find on google???

NotABanana · 27/05/2008 10:00

Two boys and a girl.

I just typed in wet tail in hamsters and got a lot of info. Really sad. I will clean them out again and see how they are then.
