Outdoor Guinea Pigs?

I have been looking at getting some piggies, not until next year as I have a baby on the way so will be too much right now, but guinea pigs are the best pets I have ever had and I really want to get 2 females, however this time I am looking to get guinea pigs for outside rather than inside but this does concern me a little.

Anyone here have any bad experiences with guinea pigs being homed outdoors or would you recommend this more? Does this also make them less tame which is something I do not want to happen. The 2 guinea pigs I had before were indoors piggies and were very tame and this is what I loved the most abut them!

Our piggies live outside. They are quite friendly but they don’t like being picked up. It’s easy enough to have them outside and they have lots of grass and seem very happy. When we catch them they are tame and like a cuddle. They will come and take food from our hands but they don’t like being caught.

i think indoor piggies are tamer but we can’t have them in and I think they are happier outside tbh.

People will come on and tell you it's terribly cruel but as long as you centre their welfare and think about keeping them safe, warm and dry. They don't tolerate drafts and will need somewhere sheltered. A lot of people move them into sheds/garages overwinter.
I tried bringing mine inside in the colder months but got horrendous asthma. So they had super insulated hutches, covered at night or in rain/wind. Warm Igloo beds and heated pads. They all lived over 6 years. Oldest one was just over 7 years old so they didn't do badly.
Mine were tame enough, they were friendly and liked handfeeding and grooming. I tended not to pick them up because of being allergic to them. I love guinea but can't have them any more if I value breathing 😄😄
