Help with gerbil

We just bought out children 2 gerbils.
DD 8 DS 6 , daughter more interested than DS now , only how do you tayme them ?
only had them 4 days and have tried to hold them but they seem very scared ,so dont want to do it again DD getting very upset that she cant play with them , what should we do ?

You need to handle them daily, taking it really sowly. Encourage them to feed from your hand.

TBH though we tried and failed to tame our gerbils.

We never had much luck with ours. They were scared of me and absolutely terrified of the children. Good luck.

We had 3 gerbils, 2 of them would be held quite happily but the other used to wee, pooh and bite. I asked the vet about it and he said just leave it alone they don't change.

My son used to build play areas for them with lego etc. This way he felt he was playing with them without too much handling.
