He doesn't do it in an agressive way, I think he wnats to play. however it's annoying and he just keeps going until i get up.
Any suggestions? I think it might be better when he can get out for longer walks and isn't confined to the garden

I would try to nip this one in the bud as it can develop into dominant behavior as he gets older. Get a pet corrector spray - basically a compressed air can and if he does it shout no at him and squirt it at his face. Then ignore him unless he is quiet You will probably only need to do it once or twice. A squeezy bottle of water also works as well for dogs that bark at you and is cheaper although maybe not for in the house. Say no very firmly and then give them a squirt in the face. It sounds drastic but rather that than a dog that barks all the time to get attention. Then be nice to them when they are being quiet and pleasant.

Got a water spray and started sprying him with it when he starts - but guess what, he thinks it's a game!

is it a jet or a spray though?

You need either a traditional round washing up liquid bottle (not these new, flatter ones) or a plant sprayer set to "jet"

Aim right between the eyes - it is not a shower/sprinkle.. it is a super-soaker jet... remember that

Also as you do it, holler "NO!"

Or an aluminium pot with nuts and bolts inside - throw it near him when he does it (or shake it if he's close) .. also with a "NO!" and he'll soon get the message

Its a plant spray set to jet! He loves it, thinks it's a game. He has started doing it to teh DSes as well. He has started getting his longer walks though, which is good, as he has ahd his last injections. He lay sleeping for 2 hours last night when we got back in.
Normally he lies under the computer chair if DH is on the PC, I don't know if it's because he is away, or he is trying to be the boss of me!, but he doesn't bark at DH when he sits down

what sort of puppy? we have a lab and they absolutely love water so is hopeless trying to discipline him by squirting it. at the moment he is getting rewarded for barking because he gets your attention (this is doubly true if he likes the water game). shout 'no!' and then ignore him.
if that doesnt stop it try taking him to his bed (does he have a puppy cage? bloody useful) and leaving him there for a bit when he barks. rather in manner of a naughty step. it is boring and he will soon learn that barking is not popular. if your dh is away and is normally the person the puppy thinks is his pack leader he may well either try to get more attention out of you or see if he can get more dominant with you.

Get a large bunch of keys which will make a noise and throw it right next to him when he barks. He should get a fright and stop. Only give attention when hes quiet.
