Do not use pets at home groomers . My daughter took her 4 month old dachshund in and when she returned she was shouted at saying your dog needs training it tried biting me shes never tried to bite anyone . Telling my daughter her dog was bad behaved . They put a muzxle on her without consulting my daughter 1st lola has never had a muzzle on . nails look horrendous very rude in there and embarrassed my daughter in front of other customers . I saw her aggressively brushing another dog when I was there last week outside waiting to pay for my items do not use

Can you learn to groom your dog yourself?
It's easy enough to trim their nails, brush their teeth {daily} - the dog is often far less stressed being groomed at home- I have heard horror stories of groomers letting dogs strangle themselves to death by leaping off the table while restrained by the neck.

No way would I take any dog to a groomers- I'd learn to clip them myself if they require regular clipping {eg a non shedding breed}.

I’m sorry that your DD had such a horrible experience. We have a Miniture Dachshund too and we don’t take her to the groomers.

as you walk her more the pavements will wear down her nails and as the PP said, you can do ears and teeth’s yourself.

if she’s a long haired or wirehaired she may need to go to the groomers but ask for recommendations on your local Dachshund FB group.
