Asked to rehome a dog - what do I need to know?

We've been asked if we could re-home a young lab-cross who needs a new family due to the break-up of owner's relationship, and owner's forced move into rented accommodation.
We will meet her in about an hour - so I'm trying to think of what we need to know about her..so far I have

  • is she innoculated/regularly wormed
  • has she been socialised with children, cats, other dogs
  • has she been left alone in the house for short/long periods
  • is she a chewer (being a lab, I'd guess the answer is yes)
- is she an escapologist (we have a fully fenced garden but not sure that it's dog proof for a determined dog)

Any advice would be welcome. We won't offer to have her unless we are sure we can make her happy here..

She's adorable - very well trained, was great with the kids, does chew but not too destructive and no major issues...except that she is used to sleeping in bed with her owner so I can foresee some sleepless nights trying to persuade her that her bed is downstairs.
But we are going to welcome her to our family tomorrow (once we've gone puppy-gear shopping..making list now..collar, kongs, dog bed, food, ..)

Off to check garden fence again, and to clean up the 'designated daytime dog zone' (we think we will be able to put her in the utility room with access to a segment of the garden during the day if/when we are out).
