Massive lump on kittens back after 2nd jab

Hey!

I have a little 3 month old kitten I got from a rescue centre. He had his jab last Monday and we collected him last Tuesday evening, I didn't see anything obvious until a day or so later, but he seems to have developed a huge lump on his back where I think his jab was.

It moves and sort of feels like it might be water, I'm not sure. I called the vet and they said it was normal, but to monitor for a couple of weeks when it should go down.

Has anyone experienced this in their kitten before?

It's almost half the size of a golf ball!

Yes, I have had that on an older cat and it did go away after a few days.

Is he well in himself?

ChompandaGrazia · 16/02/2025 22:18

we had that with our last cat. Not as big a lump, hers was about the size of a plum stone. Took her back to the vet in a panic who said it was fine.

My now 5 year old cat had this as a kitten after his first jab, vets said it was fine (but google search terrified me and he hasn’t had any more vaccines since). It lasted a good few weeks.

Yes mine did, I was really worried because it felt huge. I took her back to the vet and he wasn't worried, it eventually went away

I took Peanut to the vet and he has a huge cyst! They are operating on him tomorrow morning 😢 bless him, he must be in so much pain x

Oh the poor baby. I’m glad you ignored us all and took him in.

Poor baby. He’s so lucky to have you and he has a great name. 😻

Stardust286 · 17/02/2025 21:12

Poor peanut, wishing him a speedy recovery 🐾 ❤️

DaffodilsDillyDally · 17/02/2025 22:47

Oh no, poor little peanut 🥹

DaffodilsDillyDally · 18/02/2025 19:45

How did it go @Cherryblossom200?

Cherryblossom200 · 18/02/2025 20:11

Peanut is back home with his little sister Lottie. He seems so much happier and playing again, Strangely another kitten in the litter had the exact same issue and had to have the area drained. I'm not sure what went wrong x
