... after a fruitless search of three dog homes last weekend, yesterday we paid a deposit on a three-week old Springer Spaniel.

Just looking round our house, at all the bits and bobs on the floor, thinking NOOOOOOOO. She is really cute though.

Get a crate. There is a recent thread here on springers.

They are the loveliest dogs. You'll have to call her Tigger though.

AHEM, why? Is there a film or summat I've missed?

Springers are great dogs, but they have the dog equivilant of ADHD, so be prepared and get a stairgate or cage for them when you are out.

They are a working dog breed and will need lots of excercise to stop them getting bored, but they are great with kids and very loyal and affectionate.

ENJOY

My taid used to breed and work springers. They are nutters but very loving!

Make sure you give him LOADS of excersise or you may end up with a tearaway.

Lovely dogs to have with children. I used to have one called Bracken, he was a true gent.

The working strain tend to be VERY energetic and need alot of exercise and activity.

If this is your first puppy a good book to read is ' the perfect puppy ' by gwen baily.

Have fun!
