Kitten- worried younger than 8 weeks stated

We have just bought a ragdoll kitten that is supposedly 8 weeks old. I stupidly sent my husband to get him and he's tiny. He weighs 425grams. He eats and drinks on his own and uses litter tray independently. He plays but not as much as expected.

We have other cats and I'm now worried he won't get his jabs tomorrow as planned and we can't mix them. Meaning he won't be well socialised in the crucial weeks 😭 he's super confident with people including my children. I don't know what to do. The breeders seemed lovely, are adamant he is 8 weeks and sent us through photos dated on phone and shown us the flea and worming treatment he is on and dates of when he had it last.

I just don't know what to believe. He's beautiful but I'm worried. I can't risk my others getting anything and worry they aren't trustworthy. However I am aware all my cats go outside so could in theory also have FIV/felv etc unbeknown to us as that's the risk of them going outside.

I'm just not sure what to do? Ask for a snap felv/fiv test? Quarantine for longer or less to help him socialise. 😭

But if your other cats have had their jabs they'll be protected won't they? Or am I missing something?

Sorry just realised it's FIV in particular you're worried about. I'd have thought the chances of getting it are v slim though.

What did the vet say?

My kitten was found at 5weeks in my friends barn. She weighed about the same as yours. She is now five - perfectly healthy and unbelievably spoiled! She always stayed small.

Vet was brilliant - she had special kitten milk for the first couple of weeks and regular check ups.

Hey,

The vet feels he is 6-7 weeks or unlikely but possible just very small. He is a healthy happy little thing and has fitted in perfectly ❤️
