Dog aural haematoma

Hi
My 11 year old lab has a persistent haematoma. It’s been drained twice and has refilled again. The other options are surgery or just to leave it, but that seems unkind as it seems to be uncomfortable.

I’ve booked to see the vet again. After two attempts at draining is a third likely to work or is surgery really the only option now? This has been going on for almost a month.
Has anyone had a similar problem?

Hi, yes we had this with a retriever, drained it and was fine. Then had again with our viszla who flapped her head so much I knew it would happen again. Spoke to vet friend, said leaving it wasn't an issue so we did rather than have it drained multiple times. She just got a cauliflower ear but not really noticeable and it never happened again.
