Just that really? This kitten is being sold as brown and I wondered if she is actually going to turn black as she's older? Thanks so much!

No, she's not going to turn black.

RogueFemale · 24/11/2024 14:43

And make sure the kitten is old enough to leave her mother. At least 9 weeks old, ideally a bit older.

Why do you think a brown kitten would turn black ?

Yes - especially since that’s a screenshot from pets4homes.

Would it make a difference to you if the kitten changed colour, OP?

LauderSyme · 24/11/2024 14:48

No, she is going to more or less keep the fur colours she has now. Adorable!

Hey everyone,

I don't want a black cat as we lost one 6 months ago and my little boy doesn't want one as he gets sad but has fallen for her. She has black fur underneath at roots hence my concern.

Thanks so much ❤️

No matter if she ends up getting darker later, she is still so cute.

Freysimo · 25/11/2024 08:24

Where is kitten coming from?

InfoSecInTheCity · 25/11/2024 08:28

What @EmpressaurusKitty said. That image seems to be from the Pets4Homes website, how sure are you that that is the kitten you will be buying?

yogasam · 25/11/2024 08:33

I would say yes, she will likely turn darker. Don't be ridiculous though, you'll still love her to bits.

Many cats change colour as they age - notably Siamese / pointed coats which start out almost pure white with the points only developing later - then they tend to get slushier as they get older. Black cats often go brown as they get old.

coffeesaveslives · 25/11/2024 17:27

No, black kittens tend to be born black.

OkPedro · 25/11/2024 17:30

My black cat was brown when he was a kitten which is why he is called Fudge ☺️
You could see the black fur underneath the brown

TomatoSandwiches · 25/11/2024 17:30

Your son will fall in love with her long before she turns darker if she does and it will no longer matter, but I doubt she will change much.

Black cats are the best imo.

Whatamitodonow · 25/11/2024 17:32

If it’s so important why not get an older kitten or cat so you can see it’s established personality and colour?

pets4homes should be banned.
