I was a volunteer dog for 5 and a half years. I am handing my notice in tomorrow as the woman who had the dog on loan from the charity keeps neglecting it by over feeding it for years and the dog now has a severe eye infection. She faked the criteria to get the dog. The woman was abusive to me for reporting the unwell dog to the charity even though I had told her too. She and the family wanted a free dog and for others to walk it as they couldn’t be bothered as the family and extended family are always round there. No appreciation from the woman or apology.
I am cutting my losses as these lazy disrespectful users will never change and I am not wasting my time walking the dog if she is going to overfeed it. Plus the charity keep giving the dog back after confiscation. The main thing I am upset about is I won’t see the dog again. I have grown really close to the dog for the last 5 and a half years. We did lockdown walks and he put his paw on me one time I cried about some horrible colleagues at work. So many memories. I feel so sad and I have cried, I love that dog 😭
