Cat scratching stairs

Hi
Any ideas to stop our cat scratching the stairs . We've sprayed them with stuff bought in a pet shop and have a scratch board ???

You could try temporarily wrapping the area they're scratching in tinfoil or cling film to make it less appealing, then place a climbing/scratching tree near the stairs so they go to that instead. Every time the cat uses the tree you could reward them with a treat. A few weeks of this should hopefully mean they avoid the stairs and just go straight to their scratcher.

Nothing useful, but I share your pain as my cats are stair scratchers. I have bought bath mats (the same colour as the carpet) to cover the bottom steps which they like to scratch
