Cat with unexplained ataxia.

My 12 year old Bengal was in a cattery for 2 weeks (might or might not be relevant) After he came home, I discovered he had an abscess on his backside. The vet treated it under GA and was sent home with antibiotics. It healed well but I noticed he was not as sure footed as normal and a little lethargic.

A week later, he had the most explosive diarrhoea and sickness, so back to the vets. His bloods were normal but the vet discovered he had an extremely painful reabsorbed canine tooth, which was removed under a second GA. He was sent home with a fentanyl patch which made him incredibly spaced out and wobbly.

10 days later, after the removal of the patch, he still keeps falling over like he’s drunk but is eating well, using the litter tray appropriately and has full feeling in his back legs - just unable to control them. The vet seems to be at a loss over what to suggest and is currently medicating him for possible neurological FIP (GS441572) plus broad spectrum antibiotics in case of an inner ear infection. She mentioned toxoplasmosis as a culprit, although he doesn’t hunt and he’s he’s on processed cat food, however our other cat has always eaten raw, so would it be possible he might have caught it from that?

I guess I’m wondering if anyone else has had a similar scenario and what suggestions you might have?
