I'm being a bit reactive here, but DH has just told me about a friend who has some Italian Greyhound puppies and I kinda want one!!

Very experienced dog owners, have a 9yo pointer at the moment and have always had dogs, terriers etc. never a sight hound though.

Someone at home most of the time, 2 kids 7 and 9. Smallish garden but active family. Current dog friendly and a good boy.

What do you think??

Oh go for it you sound like you will give one of these pups a lovely home! Greyhounds are beautiful and happy to lounge about and sleep so long as they have been well exercised! We had two lurchers (greyhound/deerhound) and they were lovely companions. Will want to chase and kill cats but hopefully from a puppy you can teach them this isn't acceptable but they were bred to hunt so the hound can come out in them. Happy puppy picking ! x

Italian greyhounds are quite delicate little things. Not ideal if the children or existing dog are boisterous.

They are delicate as PP said earlier. Love to snuggle up on laps and be cosy. Take about 5 steps outside then want to be picked up to go back inside to recharge under a blanket. Will run zoomies in the garden for about 5 minutes and then spend the evening under a blanket. Need to wear jumpers and a coat in winter. Preferably a blanket... there's a theme 😄

My mum used to regularly dog sit for one and she was a sweetie, but so delicate. She loved sitting on laps in the pub though, would snuggle up to anyone wearing a big scarf...
