my cat hates me singing

I was singing (badly) as no-one else was in the house. The cat, shes not a lap cat. (Well only when she chooses). Was asleep in the room. She jumped up from her bed. Stared at me, then jumped up on the sofa and put her paw on my shoulder. I had to placate her and say its ok Im not ill. She thought I was ill. It was funny and so cute at the same time. Does anyone elses cat really react to singing?

lol, not heard about singing but my mums cat hates it when she puts the phone on speaker and can hear the other person. She turns quite wild!

My sister claims her cats rip her curtains when she sings in the shower.

growing up my cat would screech and attack my mum if she sang. Her voice was normal. I always hated that cat anyway

I've had the opposite effect - I was cat sitting and the cat was missing. She came back when I was doing some singing practice! Phew!

Our own cats have all been pretty oblivious about either of us singing.

Yes mine! I was practising a really high part for choir. I think I have a good voice but the cat clearly does not agree & thought I was having a conniption. He comes and puts his paws on my shoulder just like yours. I was a bit scratchy that day, but couldn't warm up because I felt bad for him after that!

Yes, mine conveys her feelings of great concern... not for me but for herself, having to listen to it...

She doesn't do anything dramatic or cute like some others here, but she just does that thing where they sort of... emanate their feelings towards you, and you Just Know they are Displeased... an innocent bystander wouldn't perceive it, but this is the Litter Tray, so you will know what I mean...

Mine meows along when I whistle the American Nation Anthem. We are not American.

Oh mine absolutely loves it when I sing! He will sit on my chest and stare into my eyes and purr!! He is 90% deaf tho!!
