I have a seven month old puppy, on saturday he had a medium sized swelling come up on the bridge of his nose. The swelling has now gone down, but it is very very itchy. I don't know what happened to it but i would hedge my bets on the cat swiping him one. There is no obvious open wound and no sign of infection.

What can i put on it over night to help him to stop rubbing it on everything, as i don't want it to become really sore and possibly infected.

TIA

can you stick a big cone collar on him so he can't scratch it rather than a cream? Or you could go for germolene with antiseptic and a little bit of local anaesthetic in it..... Poor thinh

Don't put Germolene on it - not recommended for animals! He'll probably just lick off whatever you put on it anyway. A buster collar is a good idea if you have one, otherwise just bathe it in salt water twice a day. Keep an eye on it, but noses heal quite quickly so should be fine xx

I'd second the salt water. Bites or scratches quite often build into fluid filled cysts in dogs. If it's going down, it's probably ok, but if it fills up again (and they sometimes do) you may need a trip to the v.e.t.

thanks i will try the salt water, it should be fun with such a wriggly puppy! thanks for advice, i just hope that it doesn't turn into anything more serious. poor boy .
