How long is normal to wait for an ultrasound?

Our dog is very unwell - suspected cancer. Vet says we need an ultrasound performed on her before she can refer her to the pet hospital. The soonest the vet can do an ultrasound is Monday? Is that normal?

It would depend on a couple of things. Your vet may not own an ultrasonic machine, and may need to borrow one from another clinic. Or if your particular vets is a branch clinic, it might be that they only have ultrasonic facilities at their main clinic.

Or it might be that they only have one or 2 vets that perform ultrasound imaging, and they might not be in clinic until Monday.

Could you request that your dog is referred immediately then she will be able to get all the tests together at the hospital.
