Got a new kitten. It was riddled with fleas. Had loads of adult fleas. Got her treated at the vet with some spot on type treatment. Then the vet gave me worming spot on treatment.

Anyways. I have yet to treat my house. I know I need to fumigate it. I will do this asap but need to get the kids and pets out the house or different rooms.

I have been hoovering and cleaning like mad and brushing the cat with a flea comb.

When I brush her there's loads of little black specs but when I put it on tissue paper there's no blood or anything smearing so what is the black stuff? She definitely feels a lot better and doesn't have as much flea dirt. If she does still have fleas when can I do another treatment?

Indorex spray for the house

Sofas,rugs,curtains etc cover in it.

I had to do similar recently thanks to my dog catching a hedgehog and bringing it into the house it was riddled.

I hoovered the entire sofas front bak underneath etc etc then sprayed. Same with rugs and curtains.
Treated and bathed the dogs the same day.

Then hoovered everything again that evening and again twice a day for a week.

It's worked but it's hard work but worth it.
Our pets don't go upstairs luckily

I use Indorex too. You need to spray everything where fleas can live - carpet, sofas, cushions, pet bedding, beds etc and follow the instructions carefully. I needed 2 cans of spray but that's because I had to do upstairs too. Keep on flea combing the kitten until she is clear. It takes a while but I've found it works.

@dothehokeycokey what about the black specs? Are they fleas? I thought if you smeared them on paper there's ment to be blood if it's fleas

The black specks are flea poo

@Sawitch - did you just do the full house and vacate or did you do a room at a time?

@Octavia64 ohh okay, so if she has the little specs that means she's still got fleas? Even after treatment? X

@schoolie258

I did the whole downstairs and made a note on the calendar to do it again in four weeks but I hoovered twice a day every day fully meaning everything for a week as the spot on treatment takes 24-48 hours to work.

The dots of black stuff are flea poo.

My dogs don't go upstairs so only did downstairs as I did it the minute I spotted one flea on one of the dogs after catching a hedgehog so I caught it quickly

It took me a whole day to strip the downstairs and hoover/spray and then bath and comb three big dogs but there's been nomore since
